Malaysia - Philips Unveils the Next Dimension in Viewing Experience with Philips Professional 3D display
Malaysia International Aerospace Adventure 2007 (MIA2007) first in Malaysia to use Philips new 3D technology in public applications
Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia – Philips today launched its latest innovation for display technology- the Philips 3D WOWvx displays. This next dimension in viewing experience delivers stunning out-of-screen 3D effects without the need for special glasses or filters.
Malaysians will be able to have a feel of the Philips 3D WOWvx at the ‘The Malaysia International AerospaceAdventure 2007’ (MIA 2007), which is the first in the country to set up the 3D displays. The displays at the MIA 2007 feature stunning animation in 3D effect for visitors.
Commenting on Philips newest innovation for display viewing, Chairman & CEO for Philips Group of Companies, Malaysia, Mr. Rajah Kumar said, “3D is the next frontier for those in the professional display market seeking differentiation to gain a competitive edge in media rich environments such as stores and shopping malls to attract the visitors’ attention and leave them with an extraordinary and entertaining 3D experience.”
Based on the WOWvx technology, Philips 3D displays give a fascinating 3D experience as objects and images come out of the screen. And special glasses are not required. Moreover, it allows multiple users to view 3D content at the same time within a large comfort zone. Philips 3D displays are based on a high-definition panel and create exciting viewing experiences in both 3D and 2D.
At the same time, Philips can provide its customers with a complete end-to-end 3D system that supports the process from 3D content creation up to 3D visualization. Some applications today already use a 3D dataset, but deliver a 2D image at the end. Philips now unlocks this content by supporting the visualization in 3D. This includes computer animations, real-time 3D applications such as games, and video conversion from 2D to 3D as well as stereo to 3D conversion tools.
“The award-winning Philips 3D display line is the latest in the company’s long history of display innovation. Whereas the commercially successful Philips Ambilight line of LCD TVs offered viewers an ambient entertainment experience, Philips 3D displays using WOWvx technology takes the immersive experience one step further,” stressed Mr. Kumar.
Initial focus for Philips 3D display will be for the professional market, with such applications as out-of-home advertising, digital signage, point-of-sale, casinos, and others. Products for the consumer market will follow, promising the next trend in an immersive experience for gaming and home theater.
